In recent years, we've worked with public agencies to improve the wildlife habitat of our property in Polk County, Oregon. What began was as twenty acres of impassably dense forest has been transformed into an open oak woodland. We've removed fir and maple that compete with the oaks. We've thinned the oaks to promote the most massive and majestic specimens.

As we put together our plans and actions, we'll post our experiences here, for two reasons. First, it helps organize our thoughts. Second, we can better describe to friends and family what were doing in the Oregon farmscape. Added bonus: others are looking for information on wildlife habitat restoration efforts. We're keeping a weblog of our habitat restoration efforts.

If you'd like to visit us, give us a call at 503-623-4648. We'd be happy to share our ideas, maybe steal some of your good ideas. Or send an email from our Contact page. Even the experts are learning what works and what doesn't, and in the spirit of scientific discovery, we're eager to be part of the process.
